Bolga Tech. Institute students threaten to embark on strike if authority changes their principal

Students of Bolgatanga Technical Institute in the Upper East Region have started a nonviolent protest against the transfer of Zachary Yorose, the school's current principal, to a community day senior high school in Tumu.

The kids claim that the administration has made suggestions about moving their Principal to a different school, which they do not agree with.

As a result, the students have vowed to boycott academic events if the Principal transfer decision is not reversed.

Some of the kids told Moses Appiah, Upper East Correspondent for Class FM, "We don't know if it's because the third years fought and now they're taking our principal away and we don't agree with that.

We need our Principal back because otherwise there would be no classes, no meals, and the building will collapse.

The principal has only been in his or her position for two years, therefore the pupils pointed out that he or she cannot be held accountable for whatever occurred.

"To our knowledge, our Principal will change, and a new individual will be arriving. The same goes for us; we oppose it. We won't agree that there won't be a class if just our principal left, I fear.

Another student remarked, "We don't understand the reason they believe the Principal should go.

They threatened to close the school unless the Regional Minister acted.
