Three Opoku Ware SHS students arrested for armed robbery


Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested three final-year students of Opoku Ware Senior High School who engaged in a botched car snatching attempt.

According to a report filed by Accra-based UTV, the three boarded a Taxi at 11 pm on Friday, August 12, 2022, from Santasi to Golden Tulip.

They told the driver they will alight at Ratray Park because that’s where their house is.

However, in the middle of the journey, one of the students pulled a knife and asked the taxi driver to surrender the Taxi or he will be stabbed.

The brave taxi driver refused to hand over the car to the students and fought back. After several minutes of back and forth, the car rammed into a wall and drew the attention of people at Vienna City.

The Police were called and two of the students were arrested whiles one took to his heels.

After hours of interrogation, the two led the Police to the hideout of their colleague and he was arrested.

Police in the Ashanti Region is currently preparing them for court.

Meanwhile, checks from the school indicate that the students two of whom are 17 years and one who is 19 years have been deboardenized.
