A 62-year-old man has allegedly been killed by his nephew identified as Kwaku Fokuo in an argument over plantain theft at Apitkooko, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti region.
Kwaku Fokuo who is 42-year-old is reported to have gotten into a heated argument with his 62-year-old uncle after he accused him of plaintian theif.

The deceased has been identified as Nana Kwaku Asare. According to reports from eyewitnesses at Apitkooko, Nana Yaw, the incident happened at 10 am when the suspect Kwaku Fokuo killed his uncle with an iron rod which he used to beat him up repeatedly until he gave up the ghost.
According to the eyewitness, he was asleep when he heard the noise from the other compound and rushed to see the nephew attacking his uncle.

“Fokuo went to steal a lady called Georgina’s plantain and she came to the house to demand it but he refused. So the uncle decided to intervene and get the plantain for the owner but it led to a heated argument during which Nana Asare was killed,” he narrated to Adom News‘ Isaac K. Normanyo.

The suspect, he indicated, is currently in police custody with investigations ongoing.
