We beg you to return to school – Teachers plead with students after strike

Teachers in the various Pre-Tertiary Schools across the country are pleading with their students to return to school after calling off their few days old strike.

It would be recalled that a Coalition of Pre-Tertiary Teachers were on strike over the government’s failure to provide them with Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).

However, after a series of negotiations, the government agreed to pay 15% COLA to teachers hence they called off the strike.

But after returning to the classrooms, the students also left and decided not to return because to them serious academic work will not start soon.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based TV3 Kumasi Secondary Technical School’s headmaster, Boateng Andrews pleaded with students to return to the classrooms.

“Teachers are ready to teach them. Teachers are ready to discuss the mock with them. But the students – some are not with us. Some are still in the house. Some are hiding. So please, my dear parents, advise your wards to come to school,” he said.

He also used the opportunity to plead with Buffer Stock to provide food for the schools.
